My husband and I just got back from 18 days in Italy, and we used this book and Rick Steves' Rome book for when we were in those areas. This book is excellent! He gives you great information that is accurate and reliable (about pricing, opening hours, etc.), and provides a great overview of the region. We had brought along two other guidebooks about Italy, but ended up using the Steves' ones pretty much exclusively since they were so thorough and complete.

Since we had a rental car for part of our time in Tuscany, we also found it helpful that he gives some brief directions about how to navigate into and park in almost of all the towns he mentions.

He also has a great sense of humor that makes his books fun to read.

If you go to Rick Steves' website, he also has free audio tours that you can download and put on your mp3 player. My husband and I did downloaded them before we went, and it was great to be able to have tours of many of the major attractions in Italy (the Collosseum, the Uffizi, Pompeii, etc.) that were conducted at our own pace. We saved quite a bit of money from not having to rent audio tours at every site we visited.

The only downside is that so many people in Italy had Steves' books that getting into some of his recommended restaurants was a bit difficult. He mentions this problem himself in his books.

Overall, though, I highly recommend this book if you are going to Tuscany! It was our first time using Steves' books, but it won't be our last!

As a lover of Steve's television shows, I was very disappointed with the Kindle for iPad version of the book. While the content is good, when I saw it advertised as a "multimedia version", I expected integration of some really compelling video content. This is NOT the case. There are illustrations, maps, etc. But I have not encountered any compelling integration of video which could really make the book come alive. In addition, many of the illustrations are simply really bad scans of the book's illustrations. Given Rick's foot in each of the worlds of print and television, I was hoping this would be a visionary example of the integration of text and media in a genre of publishing that could really benefit from that integration. It is not.

My grandkids and I played this while driving to Boston with their parents. We had fun playing it and it kept them from getting restless on the long trip. We liked how the windows flipped up and over, making it easy to use while traveling, even for the 5 yr. old.I left it with them and I am sure they will use it over and over. It was well worth the money. Melissa and Doug have great games as I purchased Travel Hangman too and that is a favorite of the whole family!

I bought these for a trip to Montana. These are built well and seem like they will hold up. I like the different cards so the kids can switch it up often. I am only letting them be seen when we are in the car. We have a commute even from home, so we will get lots of use out of these.

My kids have been enjoying this, especially when we're driving somewhere. It's great for them to do besides watching tv in the car.

This is a great idea, I love the interchangeable cards. I wish the cards would stay in the slots better, they often fall out in our tote bag and then get a little bent out of shape. Our 3 year old doesn't really get the game yet, but he likes looking at the pictures and opening and closing the doors. Unfortunately, the little wooden doors make a rather loud snap when closed (by a 3-year old!) and when that is all the kid is doing, it's kind of annoying. You should know they aren't very compact (each one is thicker then an average board book) being made of all wood - not a terrible thing but something you should know about when deciding if they fit in your packing plan. Also, the little doors are held in place by an elastic string - something easily cut by a rambunctious child.
